Your adventure begins as you arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, Nepal’s bustling capital city. Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by our representative who will assist with your transfer to the hotel. Kathmandu, with its vibrant streets, rich cultural heritage, and bustling markets, offers a fascinating introduction to the sights and sounds of Nepal. Depending on your arrival time, you may have the opportunity to explore some of Kathmandu’s iconic landmarks, such as Durbar Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), or Boudhanath Stupa, all UNESCO World Heritage Sites. In the evening, you’ll enjoy a welcome dinner at a traditional Nepali restaurant, where you can sample delicious local cuisine and meet your fellow trekkers. Today, you’ll embark on an exhilarating flight from Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla, a small mountain town nestled in the heart of the Everest region. The scenic flight offers breathtaking views of the Himalayan peaks, including Mount Everest, as you soar above rugged landscapes and terraced hillsides. Upon arrival in Lukla, you’ll meet your trekking crew and begin your trek to Phakding, a picturesque village situated along the Dudh Koshi River. The trail descends gently through rhododendron forests and Sherpa villages, offering glimpses of local life and traditional architecture. Along the way, you’ll cross several suspension bridges spanning rushing rivers, adding an element of adventure to the journey. After a few hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Phakding, where you’ll spend the night at a cozy guesthouse, surrounded by the natural beauty of the Himalayas.
Note: Due to ongoing upgrades at Kathmandu Airport, Lukla flights are currently departing and arriving at Ramechhap instead of Kathmandu. Ramechhap is about a 4-hour drive from Kathmandu, so we’ll need to leave around 2 am to reach the airport on time. Please note that during the peak season, all flights to and from Lukla operate from Ramechhap. The return drive from Ramechhap after the trek can take anywhere between 4 to 6 hours, depending on traffic.
After a hearty breakfast in Phakding, you’ll set out on the trail to Namche Bazaar, the bustling commercial hub of the Everest region. Leaving Namche Bazaar behind, you’ll continue your journey deeper into the Everest region, trekking towards the tranquil hamlet of Phorste Thanga. The trail follows the contours of the mountainside, passing through lush forests of rhododendron, magnolia, and juniper. Along the way, you’ll encounter yak herders and porters carrying supplies to remote villages, providing a glimpse into the traditional way of life in the Himalayas. As you ascend higher into the mountains, the air becomes thinner, and the landscape becomes more rugged and remote. After several hours of trekking, you’ll arrive in Phorste Thanga, a small settlement nestled in a picturesque valley surrounded by towering peaks.
