Hello and welcome to a spiritual trip to Mount Kailash, the home of Lord Shiva. This is where devoted pilgrims begin a journey of self-discovery and enlightenment. Along with you, we will travel through the rough terrain and old trails of the Himalayas to reach one of the holiest places on Earth.
Day 1: Get to Kathmandu
We meet as a group of seekers in the busy streets of Kathmandu to start our journey. We are all on the same path to find spiritual renewal. We get our minds and bodies ready for the holy trip ahead, surrounded by the city’s bright colors and fragrant incense.
Day 2: Go from Kathmandu to Nyalam
Leaving the chaos of the city behind, we start a beautiful drive towards the border with Tibet, going through lush valleys and twisting mountain roads. Nyalam, a cute town in the foothills of the Himalayas, is where we’ll get used to the high altitude and get ready for the difficulties that lie ahead.
Day 3: Nyalam – Day to Get Used to the Altitude
We are acclimatizing today, which means getting used to the thin air and rough conditions of the Tibetan plains. We take long walks around Nyalam and enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped peaks and untouched landscapes. In between, we meditate and think about the sacred trip that lies ahead, getting our minds and spirits ready.
Day 4: From Nyalam to Saga
As we continue our trip toward Mount Kailash, we pass through rough terrain and wide plains. We also cross the huge Brahmaputra River and see how the landscape and weather change dramatically. As we get closer to Saga, we can see the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas, which lets us know we’re almost at the holy mountain.
Day 5: Saga to Lake Manasarovar.
The holy Lake Manasarovar, also called the “Lake of Consciousness” in Hinduism and Buddhism, is where we arrive today, marking a major turning point in our journey. We do rituals and prayers here, in this beautiful place with calm waters and pristine surroundings, to ask for blessings for our spiritual trip ahead.
Day 6: From Lake Manasarovar to Darchen
Our spirits are lifted and our hearts are full of dedication, so we keep going towards Darchen, which is the gateway to Mount Kailash. We are amazed by the raw beauty and spiritual energy that fills the area as we travel through rough landscapes and old towns.
Day 7: Walk to the Dirapuk Monastery
We are now starting our journey to Dirapuk Monastery, which is at the base of Mount Kailash. This is the moment we have all been waiting for. We get closer to the holy mountain with each step, led by the chanting of “Om Namah Shivaya” and the amazing view of Mount Kailash rising above us.
Day 8: Walk over the Dolma La Pass
Today is the hardest and most emotionally rewarding part of our trip. We have to hike over the over 18,000-foot Dolma La Pass this morning. We make it up the steep slope with faith and determination, stopping to catch our breath and be amazed by the beautiful views from every angle.
Day 9: Walk to Zuthulpuk Monastery
From Dolma La Pass, we go down until we reach Zuthulpuk Monastery. We spend the night there under the shadow of Mount Kailash. As we sit here in this holy place, we think about our trip and pray for spiritual awakening and blessings for all living things.
Day 10: Go back to Darchen and leave.
We make our way back to Darchen, marking the end of our pilgrimage to Mount Kailash. Our hearts are full of thanks, and the journey has opened our minds. As we leave this holy land, we take with us the memories and blessings of our trip, which have been changed forever by Mount Kailash’s divine presence.
Our trip to Mount Kailash has been a journey of getting to know ourselves, renewing our spirituality, and making a deep link with God. We have walked along old trails and rough terrain, led by faith and devotion, from the busy streets of Kathmandu to the peaceful shores of Lake Manasarovar. We take the blessings and new insights we gained on our holy journey with us as we go back to the world beyond the Himalayas. Mount Kailash’s timeless knowledge and divine presence will always be with us.
